Another swap question

This is the second report of that issue. I wonder how to reproduce it. I did a clean install, and the swap is working.

In my case it is a quite old installation which I upgraded across several releases (not always easy but the system works like a charm).

In the next installer swap, the partition will be replaced by a swap file.

It looks like the label for the swap partition hasn't been done properly.

Thanks @ericbsd, when I issue the following commands
sudo glabel label swap0 /dev/diskid/DISK-2241E678346Bp3
sudo swapon -a

swap is created and shows with swapinfo Device 1K-blocks Used Avail Capacity /dev/label/swap0 18978760 0 18978760 0%It is not persistent, though. After a reboot I have to do it over again.

12sunflowers Not a bug, but a change on FreeBSD that affects GhostBSD users, I have been looking into this, and it appears to be a change in how disks are assigned at boot, which is why the next installer won't perform a partition swap. I will change this for a file swap.

12sunflowers I have no control over the changes that FreeBSD made to all my hardware and VMs that did not happen. I am not the guy who maintains FreeBSD. A change that causes issues like that is a real pain for the project. I also don't have access to all the necessary hardware to test everything. I can't fix something that does not happen to me.

q-pa has a solution to fix the issues:

For you, it would be this command

sudo glabel label swap0 /dev/diskid/<disk>p3

By the next release, partition swap will be removed from the installer to replace it with file swap.

@ericbsd , the glabel approach worked but it was not persistent over reboots.

The solution was to edit my /etc/fstab file:
~~/dev/label/swap0 none swap sw 0 0~~
/dev/diskid/<disk>p3 none swap sw 0 0

Before editing fstab I tested it with:
sudo swapon /dev/diskid/<disk>p3
