GhostBSD 25.01-R14.2p1 Now Available

the update window says "packages upgraded",
but it seems that the process hasn't finished,

ninos follow the release notes instructions. Update Station can't upgrade to 25.01-R14.2p1. Pkg sees 25.01-R14.2p1 has a downgrade.

My upgrade took quite awhile. Give it 30 minutes and reboot.

Upgrade (Xfce) via the terminal was flawless. The only "scary" thing was a mismatch at the beginning of the process, which I chose to "ignore mismatch and proceed anyway," figuring it would be resolved by the upgrade.

Thanks to @ericbsd and the team for all the very tedious work it must have been to produce this upgrade!

I'm curious about one thing: I had uninstalled some apps before and replaced them (Brave over Firefox, Evolution over Thunderbird, for example), yet they appeared to have been reinstalled during this upgrade. But they don't appear in the applications menu, so I guess they weren't. Perhaps they were just being added to the available stuff in Software Station?

Again, many thanks for a flawless upgrade and a nimble, blazing fast OS!

I should have included that in the release notes. The kernel mismatch means that the packages are built on a different version.

it took me about half an hour to download and install all the software packages of
GhostBSD 25.01-R14.2p1

everything seems to be working fine!

I have been using 24.01.1 heavy for weeks.

After this release. my machine is just FASTER.

Compiling is quicker and Applications are more responsive.

I don't think that the Evolution ("Groupware suite") is being actively developed anymore. Gnome is apparently all about the desktop rather than applications now. I mention it because after this upgrade, Evolution doesn't display HTML emails anymore, but Geary does, so I just switched to Geary for now. Email clients is a whole 'nother thread, but the reason it fits here is that the upgrade crippled it. Maybe a GTK thing.

Thanks Eric, works well. Btw I don't even do bectl, seems unneccessary to take backups, I like risks.

Other than that, it works just as well as Linux.

Uland GhostBSD lets you decide how much your data matters. The choice is yours. It’s there when you need it. 🙂 This release has been rock-solid.

HI, first time in the forum...
I've been foloowing GhostBSD for some time now, trying to decide whether to use it to refresh a MacBookAir 2014 I used for business travel. Up until the previous release, I was really tempted, because everything sort of worked with an acceptable level of tweaking. I downloaded the last version, created a boot USB and gave it a try.
To my disappointment, the touchpad didn't work at all 🙁

If this is fixed (or there is a recipe to fix it) I will continue waiting...

BTW, has anyone tried to get wayland+KDE running on a GhostBSD system?

I don't know if this falls into the category of FR. It looks more like a bug to me.
I tried again yesterday with a PC I had lying around and the issue is there too:

I create a boot USB with the image
I boot the PC using it
Result: I have no touchpad. This did not happen in the previous version.

After updating another laptop this morning using the instructions in the first post icewm cores.
I removed and reinstalled but it is still does it.
With my main laptop using amd video drivers updated this morning it runs fine.
The laptop it cores on is using Intel video drivers.
Mate works fine on both except evolution cores on the one icewm cores.

The IceWM maintainer can be reached at portmaster@bsdforge.com, and
the email address for Evolution maintainers is gnome@FreeBSD.org.

You can write them directly for fixes. Once they fix the issues on the FreeBSD side,
the fixes will flow down to GhostBSD during a future ports merge.

If you created a backup of your environment using Update Station, you can revert to the previous boot environment (BE) using Backup Station and restart your system. After rebooting, open Update Station and proceed with the upgrade.

paaguti Reinstall using the GhostBSD 25.01-R14.2p1 ISO file. GhostBSD 24.01 is deprecated.
Once you reinstall, try the following.
