Would not boot into a GUI from the USB stick. I will repeat the download, burn, and installation. Perhaps my copy was corrupted, perhaps a bad USB stick. More as I find it...

Locks up starting GUI; black screen with neither touchpad or USB mouse responding.

Boots into GUI; low CPU resource usage. Nice.

Can you point to some documents on how to use Gershwin.

I don't understand what I'm looking at, but it seems to be just exactly the same mess I created by "mixing" XLibre with Xorg. I wish I could make this image human-readable. Perhaps someone will know what to do with it.

Robin It is the 3rd time I see this, it looks like it tries to load scfb instead of the intel driver.

Yes, I was able to see that XLibre tries to load all drivers, and before it unloads scfb, it crashes. When I remove xlibre-xf86-video-scfb and run startx everuting is fine. Seems to be an edge case from XLibre.

Partial test.
New to the BSD's, GhostBSD fits the best for me, I like the "just works". So far really satisfied with installation and operating Ghost. So far my workflow is supported. Thank you.

I am using Virtualbox to to test, Virtualbox supplies its own drivers, video.. so drivers are not an issue , mostly testing/looking for, software I use .

Next is doing an install on my 2011 Thinkpad T520, mouse and touchpad, need testing with live GhostBSD.

i have it installed. only error i have now is if i try to open a file rather than download it, i get kicked to the lightdm-gtk-greeter and have to log back in. havent seen any other errors....

just did a google search and found this:

1. Fix Memory Allocation Issues (Most Likely)

LightDM on FreeBSD/GhostBSD sometimes fails when it requires locked memory, as the default daemon class limits it to 128MB.

Open a terminal (or press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get to a virtual console).
Edit the login configuration:
sudo vi /etc/login.conf
Find the :memorylocked=128M:\ line and increase it to 256M:
:memorylocked=256M:\
Rebuild the database:
sudo cap_mkdb /etc/login.conf
Update the user limit:
sudo pw user mod -n lightdm -L daemon
Reboot the system:
sudo reboot

memorylocked was = to 64k so bumping that to 256 should def improve the situation if that was the cause

ok so this didn't fix the problem i'm having. The problem i'm having is that if i try to right click on this picture that is in this post https://forums.ghostbsd.org/d/806-picom-compositor-and-mate i get a menu that gives me the option to open the image in eye of mate image viewer and when i choose that i get booted to the lightdm gtk greeter login screen. I don't always get the option to open the image in eye of mate image viewer but when i do i get booted to the login screen.

trying to get that menu option to open a thing in eye of mate is hit or miss. not sure why it comes up sometimes and not others. Maybe it's a thing when the page/image is loading?

I tried an install on my Thinkpad T520. It failed to start X.
Being a newbie I switched to ver. 14.3-RELEASE-p8 . Installed with some X issues. Turns out the scfb driver is used. Ran xconfig which removed scfb and install the Intel i915kms.

None of the Fn buttons work. The light works, shines on the keyboard.

A follow up, all of my tribulations installing were caused by faulty usb sticks :-(
I realized after successfully installing Ghost 26.R15.0p2, that I do stable for a reason.

I have the updated to the stable ver. on my Thinkpad. I have not tried all the I/O or peripherals on my laptop, Ghjost found a driver for my Intel wifi, now leave it alone :-)
