Edward1978 I god a new monitor, when I hooked it up to replace my old one, it wiped my Linux bootloader & had to reinstall. It was Solus, not sure if that is important. I have had other monitors, they didn't do that.
Edward1978 DP, that was not the newest I have. It was a KTC which had a way better PSD than this one. I haven't figured this one out yet, I am hoping for some software to control it from the OS/
vannax Edward1978 That is pretty weird. I had thought that maybe its some kind of DRM or advertising stuff incorporated into HDMI. It would be neat to see someone take a multi-channel logic analyser and actually see what the 2-way comms between monitor and PC actually is.
vannax Edward1978 Yes. I understood that. DP is supposed to be FOSS, and free of all this stuff, and the ability of it to re-write stuff to the boot records is very disturbing, IMHO.
Edward1978 vannax Maybe it was a oddly timed glitch, but it was odd. KTC is a Chineses brand too, so...
vannax Edward1978 If its reporting stuff to China(or others), Wireshark should be able to tell you, with a bit of work, a lot easier than using a pricey high-bandwidth logic analyser to see what is actually happening between the pc and the monitor.
