Edward1978 No but also the future is going to be like this
Wayland if you have a near modern gpu
Xlibre if you're using an intel igpu or older gpu in general
Display servers are not something that can be just made Xlibre for example is not a from scratch solution they forked X11 fixed a bunch of stuff and continue to fix issues old X11 still has to this day
The strategy with wayland is they (Desktop environment devs mainly) are going to force wayland on everyone and expect people to report bugs (systemd did this as well)
This will either go really well or backfire entirely as most projects that take the come to me first instead of me going to you approach often do
For me personally i'm an Xlibre guy i like my stuff to work correctly and maybe one day wayland will be in a state where things work the way they should but for now Xlibre is entirely fine for this intel igpu my mini pc uses
You don't have to use wayland
that's the best part you get to choose whats best for you no matter how much gnome or kde try to force wayland on everyone they will never be able to eradicate user choice because history has shown when you take away users freedom they will just fork your software and bring back said freedom
