As a former linux user, with 20+ years in the game, (starting with Linux MANDRAKE 6.0) it saddens me to see the current direction that linux/FOSS is heading. For the longest time, I primarily used Slackware, antiX and Void, and was quite happy, proudly using distros that weren't mainstream.
I even tried PC-BSD, Trident and GhostBSD on and off over the years, in hopes of being able to make the transition to a purer UNIX experience, with varying (generally positive) degrees of success, but I always reverted back to the comfortable and familiar world of linux.
Fast forward to the here and now, 2025, my transition to the MATE GhostBSD has been easy, and as a new user to this forum, I look forward to participating in the discussions, and seeing where the future takes us. I'm rooting for Gershwin to be a big hit.
@Robin Best regards with your chemo and recovery. Stay positive, taking it one day at a time and enjoy the small victories along the way :-)
