I was a Firefox user for many years because of staying more private than with Chrome or Chromium browsers. I always used the sync function for Firefox on my Windows, Linux and Apple machines. Apart from this points, Firefox is much less secure than Google related browsers. This was one thing, why I changed my browser. And the new behaviour of Mozilla in this year was the second and last thing, why I changed my Browser. Firefox is no longer a browser with enhanced privacy and has a lower security.
On IOS, Windows 11, Macos and Fedora Linux, I use the Brave Browser only now. I sync it with every device and it runs well. But unfortunately BSD does not have the Brave Browser. The Edge Browser isn't on BSD either (And would never be my choice, btw).
So for me there are only Google related browser left and I have the choice between Chromium and Ungoogled Chromium. Both are identical, but the latter does not phone home to Google. Thinking about that, there is only one candidate left.
For me the Ungoogled-Chromium browser is the choice on GhostBSD. It provides high security and high privacy. But after all, it is not simple to handle. It needs time and for me a guide, how to install addons like adblocker or other extensions. And I have to set a search engine manually.
GhostBSD should be simple to use and it is!
Ungoogled Chromium is not simple to adjust after installing. Much easier is Chromium to use. You have a predefined search engine, click on the webstore and install an addon. That is so simple as with Firefox.
I prefer a descision between Chromium or Ungoogled Chromium to be the preinstalled browser. For simplicity it should be Chromium. It is also the default browser in some Linux distributions like Raspian OS.
I use my Ungoogle Chromium and would install it every time again, because it is the best browser for GhostBSD. But not the most simple one.
