GhostBSD4.0-RC1
GhostBSD4.0-RC1
I have just downloaded GhostBSD4.0-RC1-amd64.iso to try it out, & I find that it does not boot from usb, (tried on 2 laptops).
Edit: Sorry my fault, I forgot you do .iso & .img normally - will try burning it to DVD.
Error burning to disc - first attempt,
Failure: Failed to close session (2). SCSI error : [5 72 03] Illegal request. Session fixation error, incomplete track in session.
Second attempt - blanked the disc again, this time it wrote to disc OK.
About to try it now.
Stopped just after attempting to configure Xorg.conf, just went to a black screen & died.
Graphics use the Intel driver under PC-BSD10, which is installed on this laptop, HP G62.
Will give it a try on my Advent 9112, just to be sure.
I can confirm that it is the same on this laptop, tries to configure xorg.conf, shows a list of drivers, & just dies, (can't even access a VT).
Both use the Intel driver under normal circumstances.
Is there an md5sum somewhere to check my download against.

Re: GhostBSD4.0-RC1
I didn't get around to it, had 'big' problems with our ISP since June, so have changed over to another supplier.
I will give BETA3 a try.
In the mean time here is 'kldstat' from this laptop running PC-BSD10, (it would be good to get Ghost onto it. )

Re: GhostBSD4.0-RC1
The KMS driver is there. Did you had mesa or Intel driver working on PCBSD?
Re: GhostBSD4.0-RC1
My md5 for RC1 was correct.
Just tried with BETA3 (64bit .img).
Same on both laptops, except I think I got some more text scrolling off screen before it died.
On this particular laptop I am running AntiX/Linux, here it shows video as Intel i915.
P.S. I tried booting with ACPI off, but it would require a different kernel. Also tried Safe Mode with Verbose.

Re: GhostBSD4.0-RC1
I have a lenovo T530 with and intel 4000M and work with the intel driver and I can play 3d game on it. This laptop run the latest GhostBSD.
can you look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log and give me the first driver listed in /etc/X11/xorg.conf?

Re: GhostBSD4.0-RC1
Just in case this helps.
Code: Select all
[keith@hp-g62] ~% uname -a
FreeBSD hp-g62 10.0-RELEASE-p13 FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE-p13 #9 f4279dc(releng/10.0): Tue Jun 17 16:31:42 EDT 2014 root@avenger:/usr/obj/root/pcbsd-build10.0/git/freebsd/sys/GENERIC amd64

Re: GhostBSD4.0-RC1
The output of PCBSD doesn't really help, I need the GhostBSD output Xorg of /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.
