Too tired after my ride today to concerntrate on the install process, so I've just had a quick look at the Openbox setup.
I like it, it's really nice, more my kind of setup.

So, I'll have a good night's sleep & run the installer tomorrow.

Tried installing 32bit & 64bit LXDE today from pendrives.
I did not bother with 'Use Entire Disk' as we know that works.

First 32bit.
Zeroed out the mbr, Using 'Create Partition With Preset Mountpoint', created a new GPT table, then created a 10gb slice & selected it. Filled in the root & user info, hit 'Forward' & got sent back to the Install Start Screen, went forward again from there, & after filling in the root & user info, it crashed. (!)
Restarted the installer, selected 'Custom', selected my 10gb slice, used the auto partitioning (/ & swap), installation started.
However, my 'Installation' window showed no activity whatsoever - I only knew it was installing because my LED on the pendrive was flashing. It did install OK.
(For anyone else reading this, I had a size of 8.3gb, used 3.8gb, free 3.9gb.)

Then 64bit.
Using 'Create Partitioning With Preset Mountpoint', it suggested P1 freebsd-boot 256kb, P2 freebsd-ufs 8,734mb, P3 swap 229,740mb (!!!!). So I promptly deleted the recommended 'swap'. Filled in the root & user info, got the installer screen,& then 'Installation Error' screen.

Next I tried 'Create Partition With Preset Mountpoint' again but this time I deleted all suggested partitioning, created a 10gb slice, selected that, filled in the root & user info, got the installation screen, & it proceeded to install OK.

Rebooted into my new installation, deleted the wifi sysinstall auto section of /etc/rc.conf, ran the wifi manager & got wifi working this time without having to do any manual config.

So my conclusions are, the installer works OK, but is somewhat confusing, especially to a Linux user.

Edit: I shall now try & put this into a very basic 'howto'.
