How to bring xsana to action?

Post by slughorn »

Dear community,

I have installed xsane, sane-backends and frontends, also hplip.
The printer HP Office Pro 6970 works fine. It has the function for scanning.

When I start xsane I get the message: no device detected but hplips says: HP Scan Device Scanner (1.1.1.1) 5 seconds ago.

It looks like the issue with external USB devices.

Where have I to allow xsane to work?

Thanks

In the meantime I added in /etc/rc.conf:

Code: Select all

lpd_enable="NO"

cupsd_enable="YES"
and changed to

Code: Select all

devfs_system_ruleset="devfsrules_common"
Now I got xsane started but with error message:

Code: Select all

Error during open of device

hpaio:/usb/officejet....

error during device i/o
It seams I'm on the right way, but not on the goal yet.
