bhyve-firmware not in pkg available

Post by aschiebe »

Hi all,
just a question please, bhyve-firmware is only available in ports -
https://github.com/ghostbsd/ghostbsd-po ... e-firmware,
but not as a package itself.
question:
Is it possible to include it in the package list for easy install?
---
If yes, it would be awesome to do get some more experience with bhyve features.
If not possible to include in pkg no matter, as it would be just for testing.
---
I heard about the alternative to install from ports, but I hsve to tell you that I do not have the knowledge to install from ports. And I do not dare to mix applications from pkg and ports, because of the fear to break the rolling updates somehow.
---
Any advice is appreciated and please, there is no urgent need for this package, just asking.
Kind regards,
Arnold

... just a try to understand the dependencies of this package,
I think it depends on
https://github.com/ghostbsd/ghostbsd-po ... m/Makefile
and here I find this:
USES= gmake \
python:2.7,build
-> do this uses vaiable mean that it uses python 2.7 to build and this version is depreicated - or ?
---
Can this be the reason that the port bhyve-firmware is not availabe in pkg as the build fails due to this dependency of python 2.7 ?
---
When my suggestion is wrong, please ignore it or correct me when you want- it is just a simple approach to read and try to understand how the ports may be build.
Kind regards,
Arnold

Big big Tanxs to Eric,
after the latest update to 23.03.17 the pkg is now available and installable - even with a note that the port ia deprecated due the use of python 2.7.
Nevertheless - TanXs again Eric, now I can do my first little bhyve steps.
All the best,
Ciao Arnold
