Lenovo X200 fail

Post by gbar »

Hi folks,
Newbie here,
Laptop with HD format fat32.
Booting from USB.
Get the live option screen and after a few seconds it goes into the auto start-up
select xorg and mouse pointer appears and can be moved about the screen, spinning circle indicating busy and then back to pointer and nothing.
Ctrl-Alt-F1
mate-session[1034] WARNINGs (x3) Unable to determine session. Unable to find provider and application mate-panel.dekstop failed to register before timeout
(mate-screemsaver :1066) WARNING

There's more info on the screen if anyone thinks it would be worth while i'll type it out

Hi ASX,

I'm not sure if this is the same problem hillclimbracing is reporting, but if it helps...

I've have some problems installing gbsd 10.3 in a thinkpad T410 and in a T420. Sometimes (I've tested installation several times) graphical session doesnt's start, so what I do is the following (if my memory doesn't fail):

- login as root
- launch the following command:

Code: Select all

X -configure
A xorg.conf.new file is created. Copy it to it's right place with the ritght name:

Code: Select all

cp xorg.conf.new /usr/local/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Try to launch slim as root:

Code: Select all

service slim restart
In my case I can login as ghostbsd. Then you can launch the installation with the appropiate desktop icon.

BR
