WUSB54gc →Ralink 802.11 g WLAN I can't activate it.

Post by judd »

I installed ghostBSD 12.1 a few days ago on my desktop pc, everything was fine until I found that I cannot activate or make the usb adapter WUSB54gc work, which working would be about 2 megabytes down.

With which I installed the system: RTL8188EE Wireless Network Adapter that is inside the computer rack and throws only about 60 kbits ... a whole birth :(

The system finds it but does not let me install it, since the driver is not found in the ghostBSD / freeBSD packages. and it is very difficult to work with such a low internet. Also in Arch, and with all due respect, I don't have this problem.

I have continued reading and found something positive, it seems to me, about the WUSB54gc WiFi adapter that I cannot make it work.

The RT2800 chipset is the first generation of 802.11n adapters from
Ralink. It consists of two integrated chips, an RT2860 or RT2890 (PCIe)
MAC/BBP and an RT2820 (2.4GHz) or RT2850 (2.4GHz/5GHz) radio transceiver.
The RT2800 chipset supports two transmit paths and up to three receiver
paths (2T2R/2T3R). It can achieve speeds up to 144Mbps (20MHz bandwidth)
and 300Mbps (40MHz bandwidth.)

Judd, you have posted good details above. Great Post.
maybe you need this line to create wlan device for WUSB54g revC?

Code: Select all

ifconfig wlan0 create wlandev rum0
Here are two forum posts that I used to get WIFI going for ghostbsd. Maybe these can help you with RUM Ralink driver or get the RTL8188EE going.
https://forums.ghostbsd.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=570 RTL8188CE. I noticed you have listed in output from command "pciconf -lv" a RTL8188EE Wireless device.
https://forums.ghostbsd.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=526 Edimax EW-7811un USB nano dongle.

https://reviews.freebsd.org/D15692 update rtwn(4) driver to support RTL 8188CE chip

Code: Select all

man rtwn
or

Code: Select all

man rtwn_pci
post more details in a separate networking forum post, if you get rtl8188EE chip going for your wifi needs. Fred

Thank you!
It does not work ...

# ifconfig wlan0 create wlandev rum0
ifconfig: wlandev: bad value

Yes, I have seen those threads before, although my preference is for WUSB54gc to work

If the man are very important and I always read them, although it is also very difficult for me, to permanently translate what I read into my Spanish mother tongue, but I do it in order to learn more about this fantastic world of computing, otherwise I have no choice!

I greatly appreciate the time you have taken to help me solve my problems. I really appreciate it !!! :+1:
