It has been a week since you sent all this valuable info.....and I have read through it and tried much of it but I can't say I have had any success! I guess I have learned a lot but no automatic wifi yet.

I have found that BCM4312 has many different configurations and mine isn't one that has a straight forward solution........also that BSD appears a bit inconsistent and problems crop up that take you away from your target.

Go ahead and embellish us with the sordid explicit details. I would like to follow along on your journey. On the BCM4312, are you using the older bwn driver or the newer bhnd driver? Did you get the firmware to load either LowPower version or Regular version? Can you post the contents of the dmesg output? Did dmesg or /var/log/messages show errors? What were they?

I would like to see you succeed in using your wifi automatically on your computer. everyone can learn a lot from how you debug this BCM4312. Have you used the wlandebug command?

...wish I could but Ghost has now decided to boot to an error message....'bwn0:failed to switch channel'. This message just repeats itself endlessly. (will probably have to re-install)

.....I have also been referencing Lumina/Trident in an attempt to cross reference my BSD learning experience but after an upgrade I no longer get video....no X11 session detected!

.....I'm a rookie, Fred, but every time I try to sort one BSD problem I bump into another...for the moment, wifi is on the 'back burner'

I had to re-install GhostBSD and perhaps it was a blessing.....followed the steps suggested by you and this resulted in success!
.....using the Edimax USB not BCM4312

I couldn't say what went wrong previously but perhaps a 'Typo' in some entry.....It now works at 'boot-up'

I took the same info to Trident/Lumina and followed the same steps and enjoyed success there as well :D

I followed these instructions....... https://forums.ghostbsd.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=526
