Open Source AI

Post by ward »

I am under an oath of poverty and am a musician but computers are my hobby.

I have wondered why nobody's working on an Open Source AI?

I had the thought a while ago but I just realized, with Bill Gates just dumping a billion dollars into AI, the idea could be worth 1000's.

I don't want to start up a company or need anything (nor want anything) of worldly gain but may I CC this?

You can make money with it, you can copy it, you can do whatever you want with the idea but I would like, for my grandfather the inventor of the movie projector prism system who lost the patent, the idea to carry his name, Bill Readeker and his wonderful wife, Aline:

Bill and Aline Readeker

Bless you and I look forward to the alpha.

There is already some open-source solution for AI, but today AI is mostly used for DATA analysis and that if for most opensource solutions are developed. A lot of company use Python for Deep Learning, and DATA analysis, and a lot of tools exist already.

Thank you, Eric, a friend offered the same correction. What I meant to say is an interactive AI like Siri or Alexa. That's the idea. I also want to create a distro of FreeBSD that runs well on older Macs. I'm running it on my MacBook Pro 8,1 right now and have almost everything working but internal wifi (tried Ndiswrapper but it crashes the kernel on insertion) and firewire (but I read that this will never be supported). I have no idea how to begin if you like the idea maybe we can put it under the GhostBSD umbrella. I'd be proud to be part of the project again.

So how was your experience of using these features?
