Hi Eric, ASX

I tried with different modules now, "run" as well as "urtwn", the Qualcomm/Atheros chip in my Acer is never recognized and the Dlink DWA-131 with Realtek chipset still unstable.
it always disables "wlan" after a couple of minutes and no resolv.conf entries with nameservers nor other adjustments help.
I don t know what to try else and guess I ll try openSuse again, which recognized the Qualcomm/Atheros immidiately.

cheers

Achim, shame about the trouble your having.
Have you tried one of these?

https://www.amazon.de/USB-N10-802-11-Wi ... 1_1&sr=8-1 It seems to be supported.

Also with Realtek drivers you have to add this to
loader.conf

legal.realtek.license_ack=1

otherwise the driver will be unstable.

Hope this helps.

Pfuuu, hope so, too.
I tried it with opensuse once again and there the break offs in connection came from app armor so I deactivated it with only firewall activated.
I will try with that license line and maybe without s.th. activated in that direction again.
But then I need a working PC. Otherwise I have to live with GhostBSD on my Asus netbook for some while...
Next year I could get the Lenovo T430 from my wife. Another chance :roll:

It's strange you're having trouble. According to this, https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=rsu&sektion=4 the device is supported.

This is what you have to do to get it running, according to the page:

To load the driver as a module at boot time, place the
following line in loader.conf(5):

if_rsu_load="YES"

After you have read the license in /usr/share/doc/legal/realtek.LICENSE
you will want to add the following lines to loader.conf(5):

legal.realtek.license_ack=1
rsu-rtl8712fw_load="YES"

I also just found this. Apparently the Dlink DWA-131 has another driver. Maybe you could try this one:

https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?que ... ease-ports

Add this to loader.conf:

if_urtwn_load="YES"

And check /etc/rc.conf for these lines:

wlans_urtwn0="wlan0"
ifconfig_wlan0="WPA SYNCDHCP"

if you decide to use the urtwn driver.

Good luck. ;)

Wow. Lots of possibilities. I LL try the latter as well. Thx a lot Neville.
I tried the urtwn driver already but without the exact lines in rc.conf.
