Is there a reason GhostBSD-4 (which I believe is FreeBSD 10.0) supports the Intel Mobile 4 series graphics card and the rest 10.1 and up do not ?? Just curious.

It should work ... I'm not aware of support removal for intel graphics.
Being quite old it is entirely possible a bug was introduced and went undetected.

Exactly what's happening when you try GhostBSD-10.3 ?
Also, GhostBSD-4.0 used to run on small memory system ... 512 MB ... this is not sufficient anymore with the current versions.

well it doesn't load the driver or the driver is not supported i guess, the screen just goes black and cannot be recovered. my laptop has 2 Gig memory.

If it this the graphics that fail, you should have at least the text console login.
Then, could you try to paste here a few info ?
