After installing the latest GhostBSD XFCE 23.08.23 update the fonts look different.
My default fonts are Arimo Regular and Monospace Regular.
The Arimo font looks like a condensed font now. There is not enough space between the
characters. I increased the dpi from 96 to 99 and now the font looks a bit better but is
still different from before the update ...
The Monospace font is much thinner now and I replaced it with Liberation Mono in the
terminal so it's better readable for me.
Has anyone experienced the same "issue"? Any idea why the fonts look different after the
update? I didn't realize that the above font-packages were updated.
... well I see that the freetype2 package was updated. Can this package be responsible for
the display of fonts?
Thanks and best regards
Stefan
XFCE-Desktop: Fonts look different after latest Update 23.08.23
Re: XFCE-Desktop: Fonts look different after latest Update 23.08.23
I searched the internet and played around with the font-settings in XFCE Appearance/Fonts.
I think the update of the freetype2 package is the reason that the fonts look different.
When I set hintstyle to hintslight, then the fonts look normal again. My former setting was
hintfull. I also disabled the custom dpi-value.
