GhostBSD-20.12.06-KDE.iso - Problem booting the installation USB drive.

Post by Komarek »

Hi.
I'm trying to install the development version of GhostBSD KDE (https://download.ghostbsd.org/developme ... 06-KDE.iso) on my old laptop. Unfortunately, this does not work and booting stops:
  • ==> Remount rootfs as read-write
    ==> Make mountpoints /cdrom
    Waiting for GhostBSD media to initialize
    found /dev/iso9660/GHOSTBSD
    ==> Mount cdrom
    Required memory 3163787264 for memdisk
    Detected memory 8309161984 for memdisk
    ==> Mount swap-based memdisk
    ==> Replicate system image to swap-based memdisk
    cannot receive new filesystem stream: out of space 166.293s, 18 MB/s
    init_shell="/rescue/sh"
    ==> Unset rescue init kernel environment variables
    ==> Unmount filesystems for cloning
    == Set /dev/md2 device for reroot
    vfs.root.mountfrom="zfs:livecd"
    ==> Rerooting into memdisk
Where is the mistake and what can I do? I should have enough RAM. GhostBSD - MATE (GhostBSD-20.11.28.iso) works well. I would like the KDE variant to work.

Thank you for your advice.
Best regards. Komarek

MATE is the main focus of the project, and KDE is most likely never gonna happen. No one has taken the time to make it work.

Thank you for answer.
I quite like MATE. Unfortunately, I use some applications that are only QT5, so I wanted to have a system with only QT5 libraries.
I tried to redesign the GhostBSD release (MATE version) on KDE, but after I did deactivating Lightdm I had to log in from the CLI. SDDM did not start automatically even though I did (rc-update delete lightdm default; rc-update add sddm default)
I thought that after FuryBSD (KDE) ended, their developers were working for GhostBSD. I probably have bad information.
A clean installation of FreeBSD + KDE works well, but I like your enhancements (Software Station and Update Station) and also that you use OpenRC.
Thanks again for the reply.

Hi, can you tell me the reason? Or write a link? Thank you very much.
