How to install nvidia-config and nvidia settings with nvidia-driver-340?

Post by mikepwagner »

I have an old NVIDIA card, and I need nvidia-driver-340 for that card. It looks like nvidia-config and nvidia-settings both require nvidia-driver-440.

Is there a way to install nvidia-xconfig and nvidia-settings with nvidia-driver-340?

I am also not sure how I am supposed to get the nvidia driver to load. I tried adding

nvidia_load=“YES”

to /boot/loader.conf, but boot barfed on some missing linux module.

How do I enable the (ancient) Nvidia driver? Do I need to install linux-nvidia-libs-340?

Thanks.

The answer was to install nvidia-driver (which installed nvidia-driver-400, which did not work with my graphics card), nvidia-confit, and nvdia-settings.

Reboot, and pkg delete nvidia-driver-440.

Reboot, and pkg install nvidia-driver-340, and add “nvidia” to the kldlist in /etc/rc.conf
