Is there an easy way to install all the codecs I'll need to play my multimedia files?

Ah you mean installing the app will bring in the codecs? I got rhythmbox working using gstreamer codecs... and Vlc handles my videos already... Hopefully if I pull up short anywhere else I won't need to install anymore apps before I figure out how to get the support system wide.. We'll see.
