xconfig failed to start

Post by JWJones »

Finally succeeded in installing GhostBSD 20.03 on my ThinkPad T61 with Intel graphics.

Upon reboot, however, I am unable to reach X and the MATE desktop. Error message as follows (also see screenshot):

Code: Select all

/usr/local/etc/init.d/xconfig[2463]: start-stop-daemon: /usr/local/bin/xconfig does not exist
start-stop-daemon: /usr/local/bin/xconfig does not exist
Failed to start xconfig
/usr/local/etc/init.d/xconfig[2454]: ERROR: xconfig failed to start
ERROR: xconfig failed to start
Any help to resolve this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, slughorn. Still no X or MATE desktop upon reboot, though. When I run rc-status, I find that lightdm and hald have both crashed.

Any further suggestions?

EDIT: Upon further examination, it appears there were some errors during installation. I reinstalled, and everything is working fine now.

This issue is SOLVED, but I can't find the option to mark it as such.
