Language stays English for Firefox and Thunderbird

I have installed the german language packs for Firefox and Thunderbird, also the "i18n" packages are installed but the language stays English.
The locale is ok:

LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="de_DE.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=
Does anyone have an idea how to change this?

For Firefox look at
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/us ... guage-pack, it is probably similar for Thunderbird

Well, the language pack is installed in Firefox as well.

By your answer I assumed read everything, go to the bottom of the page were it written: "How to change the language of the user interface".

Ok, thanks! Now it works. It was a bit tricky though
