problems copying files via smb share with caja

Post by Vermilion »

Hello,

I have a FREENAS Server with smb share and I wanted to backup some folders to a usb hard drive, formatted with ZFS.

When using Caja, it very often hangs when copying the files. The copy progress bar stays mostly at the beginning at about 82 kb or sometimes somewhere at later position. No matter if I copy some documents or large iso files. I have to copy them step by step instead the whole folder containing all the files.

Example: One folder contains 12 iso files. If I copy the whole folder, it copies one iso file and the next file has just some kb of data. The copy somehow freezes/hangs. But do I copy that one iso file manually, it copys through the end.

Is there a way to solve this? I also don't know what could be the problem. I think caja cannot handle too much files to copy over samba, but why??

I have still no solution. It behaves exactly as described here:
