Re: Installing Ghostbsd
Hello Ken and welcome to the forums! Glad to hear that you like GhostBSD. From the parts that you mentioned I would not assume much trouble. Your PC should be fine for running a FreeBSD-based OS. I don't own a hexcore machine myself, but since FreeBSD scales up to a lot more CPUs, I could expect tha...

Re: New installer backend
Because after 11.1 release and 10.4, intending to change the installer to only install GhostBSD and having user setting and system configuration at the first boot. My plan is not replace pc-sysinstall fork it, remove the junk and fix the problem. I agree with the idea to setup users etc on first bo...

New installer backend
Lately, we've more than once been talking about pc-sysinstall which GhostBSD uses as the installer backend. I intended to take a closer look at it and see if I can get GELI installation to work. However nobody seems to be really fond of this program and there were thoughts about replacing it some da...

Re: Working with GBI
Honestly I think it is about time to ditch pc-sysinstall, and go with our own installer frontend/backend. That said, I don't think it is a good idea to do this change now, and I would leave that for gbsd-12. I'm willing to look into pc-sysinstall and in fact I'm doing that currently. But I totally ...

Re: FreeBSD 11.1 and FreeBSD 10.4 are Release is comming.
On second thought, I don't think that 10-STABLE is a good idea. One of the prerequisites of going with -STABLE is packaged base - otherwise we'd have to look into generating the diff patches for freebsd-update to use (and we certainly don't want to do that). The problem that I see with 10.4 is that ...

Re: FreeBSD 11.1 and FreeBSD 10.4 are Release is comming.
I was also going to propose skipping 11.0 and going to 11.1 directly since that version is already in beta and the release should be available in about 1.5 months. I've updated my main GhostBSD workstation to 11.1-BETA1 a week ago. Then I deleted all cached data and the package repo and used Synth t...

Working with GBI
For GhostBSD GBI is obviously an important piece of the project. I've tried twice to get into it a little bit and understand how it works. However my Python skills are nearly non-existent and thus it's not too easy for me. The fact that the wiki page is only a stub doesn't help much, either. I did p...

Re: interesting post
It is interesting because: - set GhostBSD as directly competing with TtueOS and FreeBSD - it remarks one "pro": "deviate very little from the vanilla FreeBSD" - it remarks one TrueOS "cons": "too much customized" All in all we are in a good position, and with...

Re: Unable to get to install menu GhostBSD 11 ALPHA
Any ideas on how to download graphics drivers for GTX 1070? I haven't gotten my hands on any pascal based graphics cards, so I cannot tell you if they already work with FreeBSD. They are definitely too new for 10.3 and probably for 11.0, too. What you might want to try first, is getting a TrueOS li...

Re: Imake and X11 .rules
I do not know what pastebin is, but if you want to find the error, why not download the package and check it yourself? The files will be the same. Pastebin is a service on the net that lets you upload text files to share the contents with others. I'm not familiar with Salix or its repositories - co...
