Re: iwlwifi on BSD

look at the #2 post from @ericbsd

Make sure you are using the latest ISO. Initially I missed step and I had issues. I do have it running by following his steps

Re: Updates taking HOURS

sounds like mate crashed.

Can you log out, then drop to a TTY (CTRL F2) log in, and remove the mate directory? This is assuming you log into your home directory

rm -rf .config/mate/

If unsure, then do not try this.

as for the speed, sounds like you need to pick a different repo

sudo route delete default ; sudo route add default 192.168.1.254

Re: Prevent sleep during updates?

that sounds like the mate-screen saver crashing. I had to go to a TTY and kill "mate-screenaver"

as for the lack of gui, sounds like you rebooted while the system was updating, though that's just speculation.

as for disabling the screensaver, look under the "control panel"

Re: MP3 player automount

Are you sure that the "-t msdosfs" is correct?

web search <https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/freebsd-a ... mand-line/> shows using the "mount -t cd9660 " command
