Re: Equalizer
By default GhostBSD (please, let me know if I'm wrong) uses pulseaudio. Hmm ... yes pulseaudio is shipped with GhostBSD by default, along with pavucontrol. However not all packages are configured to use pulseaudio, some do, some need to tweak the build options, and probably some don't. Integrating ...

Re: Newbie Fouled Up System with 10.4 Upgrade
And in single mode remove root user and add a new one." How on earth can one remove and replace the root user? I tried I'm not sure if it was possible on 7.x or 8.x ... but I would NOT try something like that .... eventually, I would use the commands rmuser and adduser ... pw man page is unrea...

Re: Newbie Fouled Up System with 10.4 Upgrade
ASX: I ran zpool scrub tank which went quickly, but did not fix anything. I still got the same error message for passwd, and although the boot process runs perfectly normally through the nVidia load screen and into slim, I still get a black screen after logging in either as root or username. When I...

Re: Newbie Fouled Up System with 10.4 Upgrade
There is no fsck for ZFS! my fault, I was assuming you were using UFS. ZFS is a COW (Copy on write) filesystem, and that assure that the filesystem is always in a consistent state and thus doesn't need fsck at all. The nearest thing to fsck is probably "scrub", but it only check for blocks...

Re: Newbie Fouled Up System with 10.4 Upgrade
fsck -fy /dev/adaop2 note that in the above command there is a typo: vowel 'o' instead of '0' (zero), that should have been: fsck -fy /dev/ada0p2 and that would explain why 'could not determine file system type'. Since the system boots normally up to slim, including the brief flash of the nVidia sc...

Re: Newbie Fouled Up System with 10.4 Upgrade
No sure what happened, but seems you have not run "freebsd-update install". ~~~ You can boot to single user mode (at loader prompt hit '2'), then it will ask to hit "enter" to start a shell. once you have a shell prompt, you need to fsck the filesystem and then remount the root f...

Re: On ZFS becoming the only available FS
I'm simply stuck with a laptop that cannot boot off GPT partitioned drives I remember once you mentioned a Dell e6430 .. is that the laptop you are talking about ? As I wrote before, I have a Dell e6330 , which is more or less the same machine with a different screen size, and that boot from GPT bu...
Re: Logout
I love openbox. Seems there are fewer distros offering it all the time so I'm really happy to find it in Ghost. One small question, I'm trying to enable normal user to use a logout app. Tried various solutions without success. Which file do I edit to give normal user permissions to execute shutdown...

Re: On ZFS becoming the only available FS
hey kraileth, :) first, you have implied a bit too much, or may be "we" or more probably "I" have written something badly; True I'm very tired of people trolling here, like those saying "GhostBSD eat all my 1 GB RAM", so may be some of my answer is particularly bitchy, ...
