15G is Minimum, not a perfect case scenario, and 25G of space for me is low, but for you, it depends on what you want to do with GhostBSD.
Me it is on SSD 512G, it just depends on your use case.

GhostBSD is base on FreeBSD, but we don't have the same release model. GhostBSD has CI/CD approach, so the project has a rolling release approach.

you BE back up will not work if you don not remove the ine with zfs:tank/ROOT/initial in /boot/loader.conf

You might not have followed this properly https://forums.ghostbsd.org/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1921

You have to remove your zpool.cache and create it back.
also delete the line with zfs:tank/ROOT/initial in /boot/loader.conf.

it only keeps one backup, and you can uncheck it. before starting an update.

Oh, if you installed with zfs, update-station does some backup that can be started at boot.

at worst you can do "sudo pkg upgrade -f" it will for to upgrade everything on the right kernel version.
