Re: Not ready for prime time

This is a retraction. Was using my GhostBSD drive configuration to troubleshoot a FreeBSD start issue, and got a message on the screen about an update. Installed 167 things, and afterward I attempted to do some of the things that were causing failures in the previous system, and they were operating ...

Re: Caja and Firefox issues after install

Honestly I have aborted working with GhostBSD for the time being. I took what I learned and went back to FreeBSD. Although I am having problems getting Mate up and operating I think the stability of the product is likely some better. I did connect a GhostBSD drive last night though to see what progr...

Re: Nextcloud on GhostBSD

I wanted a native ZFS so that the OS is also protected. I've temporarily given up on GhostBSD. Firefox-58 is broken on it and won't go to many websites. I have better things to do with my time than ferret out bs problems. As I said in another post "Not Ready for Prime Time" Linux Mint is unbreakable...

Re: Nextcloud on GhostBSD

Thanks for the info... Yes... PHP71 has the required xmlwriter file, but is incompatible with phpmyadmin. Which is an invaluable tool. Unfortunately seems you can't have multiple versions of php running for different apps. In Solaris 11 you can have multiple instances of mysql and I believe php runn...

Re: Not ready for prime time

I believe the problem came about when I attempted to get cinnamon desktop to run. Apparently it loads a number of additional things which screwed up the works. My fresh load using only what's available is working flawlessly so far. I saw a flash on the screen about upgrade, but am tongue in cheek ab...

Not ready for prime time

Let me first praise the efforts that have been expended on development. This must be an enormous task with all of the various configurations that can exist. It is an amazing thing to produce an Operating system with all of this capability and have it work. I am assuming the goal was to produce a Des...

Caja and Firefox issues after install

Caja 1.1.8.4 on the Live install DVD will find network items. Caja after installation will not. What's up with that. As well Firefox will say unsafe and refuse to go to websites. Not so with the Firefox on Live DVD.

Someone help me understand why this is so, and resolve it.

Re: Nextcloud on GhostBSD

Turns out that php56-xmlwriter is not available on GhostBSD and is required by Nextcloud 12.x

Downloaded a copy of php56-xmlwriter from web... that was compiled on amd64, but likely linux.. the .so file didn't work.
