Re: 11.1 Alpha Video Driver?

I uninstalled nv, and then installed nvidia-driver-340, nvidia-settings, and nvidia-xconfig. /boot/loader.conf did not contain: "nvidia_load=YES" so that remained the same. However, I did have to open as root /etc/rc.conf and add: kld_list="nvidia" I then ran as root: nvidia-xconfig rebooted, and vo...

RAM

My BSD machine is a home built system using a ten-year-old Asus M2N-MX mobo, a socket AM2 Athlon 64 processor, 250GB/2GB, an nVidia GeForce 210 video card, GBD 10.3, and MATE. This afternoon, I found a leftover 2 GB DDR2 stick in my RAM box, and put it in the system. Although System Monitor shows it...

11.1 Alpha Video Driver?

I am running an nVidia GeForce 210 video card on my BSD system. My GBD 10.3 install showed considerable video response delay and tearing with the default video driver (mesa?), all of which cleared up by installing the nVidia 340 driver. My GBD 11.1 install did not; it was much smoother and quicker, ...

Re: Mount a HD from the live DVD? [SOLVED]

ASX: thanks for your patient response. Bottom line: it worked. As documentation for anyone else attempting this, I did this: root@ghostbsd:/home/ghostbsd # gpart show -p => 34 312581741 ada0 GPT (149G) 34 2048 ada0p1 bios-boot (1.0M) 2082 6 - free - (3.0K) 2088 308432896 ada0p2 freebsd-ufs (147G) 30...

Mount a HD from the live DVD? [SOLVED]

Is there a way to mount and edit files on a HD from the GBD live DVD? I was playing with slim and now cannot boot the system, even into text mode. I know what I did, and can reverse it, if only I had Caja or command line access to the HD. The live DVD won't let me mount the HD.

Re: Grub Broken After Repository Upgrade [SOLVED]

Thank you ASX; fortunately, the typo was in my posting, not in my fsck line. I've installed FreeBSD before, and I understand the different disk identifiers. Since I've worked a lot with older machines, I keep a copy of Seagate Seatools on a thumb drive. I used it here to run "Erase all" as a way to ...

Re: Nvidia problem [SOLVED]

The first time I tried installing the nvidia driver, it was simply: pkg install nvidia-driver-340 nvidia-xconfig nvidia-settings nvidia-xconfig I rebooted, and the nvidia driver ran immediately and automatically. This time, after fixing my HD and reinstalling GBD, I ran the above again, and rebooted...

Re: Grub Broken After Repository Upgrade [SOLVED]

First, thank you; this was the answer I was looking for. For the sake of documentation, slim would not log into the GhostBSD/MATE/AMD64 iso as root, only as ghostbsd. I did so, went to Applications/Accessories, and clicked on the root terminal. It opened with a warning, but gave me root access. gpar...

Grub Broken After Repository Upgrade [SOLVED]

Hi, I tried to upgrade my 10.3/MATE/AMD64 repositories as per: http://forums.ghostbsd.org/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=715 After finishing the revision and adding the FreeBSD.conf file, I clicked on it to double check the contents. Of all things, LibreOffice started to open and then hung; the cursor would n...
