Re: Latest Updates Bring MATE 1.8 to Ghost 10.3

Kraileth: you are correct, it's 1.12 to 1.18.. I'm puzzled, but will accept the possibility that I hadn't updated 10.3 since October 1. In any case, it's a huge and much appreciated update, and my congratulations to the team on successfully putting this together. A 1 GB upgrade that runs that...

Latest Updates Bring MATE 1.8 to Ghost 10.3

My 10.3 update this afternoon was huge (> 1GB!), but upgraded MATE from 1.2 to 1.8, and that's welcome. Just an fyi, and thanks to the team. :D

Re: Suspend/resume

On my 11.1 system, "suspend" will suspend, but not reawaken; I have to force the hardware to shut down and then reboot. I've had difficulty with acpi-related functions in the past with both BSD and Linux, and did some fair research. My conclusion was that anything acpi-related depends strongly on th...

Re: i386 / 32 bit GhostBSD

I've pretty much purged my 32-bit machines. I do still have one old 32-bit lap top running Puppy Linux, which I keep in my workshop simply to play streaming music with (it has a nice sound system), but is pretty much worthless for other web use. Many of us who have some experience with PC's end up i...

Speed Compliment

My Ghost 11.1/MATE install boots from post to password login in 45 seconds, and has the desktop ready to go in a minute and 15 seconds, including typing in the username and password. And that's with a 10-year old Asus M2N-MX mobo with an Athlon processor and 4 GB of RAM. Good job, guys.

Re: What gstreamer plug in needed? [SOLVED]

This appears to be a player software problem. I added the gstreamer ogg, vorbis, and aac plugins in addition to the gstreamer 1 versions. I can now play somafm and HBR1 streams on Firefox and Rythymbox. On Exaile, I can now play the HBR1 streams, but not somafm, my other online favorite. On that pla...

What gstreamer plug in needed? [SOLVED]

I know, it's weird music, but I like to listen to it now and then. I've added HBR1 - Dream Factory to both Goggles and Exaile. The station has a choice of either AAC+ or Oggvorbis encoding. I've installed the gstreamer "bad" plugin among others, but in both cases, the players give me an error messag...

BSD Randomly Halts on Boot

My BSD machine has removable hard drives, and I run both 10.3 and 11.1 on the same machine. With a fully updated 11.1, the boot process randomly halts at: cd0 at ata5 bus 0 scbus 5 target 0 lun 0 I don't see this behavior with 10.3 on the same machine. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Should I ta...

GBD 11.1 - "dd operation not permitted" [SOLVED]

I tried to make a bootable USB copy of the iso for GBD 11.1. Per http://ghostbsd.org/11.1-ALPHA1 I got: dd if=GhostBSD11.1-ALPHA1-20170808-061618-mate-amd64.iso of=/dev/da5 bs=1m dd: /dev/da5: Operation not permitted At http://www.freebsdonline.com/content/view/666/528/ I found: Home arrow Debugging...
