Re: Cannot mount 320gb fat32 format drive via usb [SOLVED]

[edit: ASX was faster once again ;) But I leave my post here, anyway.] Hi madbox! I see that you're another one of us who have been playing the "escape from systemd" adventure. Welcome to GhostBSD and the forums! So I assume you did something like this: mount -t msdosfs /dev/da0s1 /mnt Correct? Have...

Re: nVidia woes on install GeForce 1060

Hi smidoid! Nice specs for your machine! That's certainly a fun system to work with. Just wanted to point out that ZFS has no native TRIM support but that's coming. However for FreeBSD/GhostBSD this is not a problem because we do have TRIM support for ZFS already (the native implementation is assume...

Re: i386 / 32 bit GhostBSD

Then we discussed this on irc, sorry, but there on IRC is where most things are discussed. In the meantime we have decided to keep alive two versions: 10.x and 11.x But the fact is that many things, are still managed from me and ericbsd only, maintaining the repos is a large job, and we all have ou...

Re: i386 / 32 bit GhostBSD

Don't want to sound rude, but it has been already decided that GhostBSD 10.4 will be the last to support i386 32 bit arch. (probably 11.1 too, but guess that slipped in by error) Huh? Where? Didn't we discuss this in the team forum and decided that we would continue to support i386 for a while? You...

Re: i386 / 32 bit GhostBSD

Alright, I managed to get my hands on some old but still functional 32-bit only hardware (and writing this post in Firefox on said machine  ): An Allnet FW8888 (there's a PDF with the specs here ; it's in German but the interesting parts like hardware details on page 2 should be easy to und...

Re: Trying to install GhostBSD 11.1 ALPHA1

Ok, this is actually pretty easy. Here's how to confuse the installer: 1. Boot GhostBSD (GhostBSD11.1-BETA1-20170829-182151-mate-amd64 in my case), should not make a difference, though. 2. Run the GhostBSD installer 3. Pick any language 4. Pick any keymap 5. Pick any timezone 6. Select UFS Full Disk...

Re: Installing GhostBSD 11.1 on ZFS

Hi JOEGhost! 1. This is something that we'd also like to have. In fact we're hoping to eventually replace the installer backend somewhen after the release 11.1 happens. However somebody has to find the time to actually do it. ASX already gave you an invitation - it's all open source and should you t...

Re: Trying to install GhostBSD 11.1 ALPHA1

Anyway look like ericbsd is having difficult to replicate the problem, a very accurate step by step guidance would be very much appreciated. ;) I'll try mess up the installer again somewhen in the evening. I hope that I can find a pattern and thus provide a step-by-step procedure that is repeatable.

Re: How/where to set global environment variables?

As far as I know that's what ~/.xprofile is for - but I think SLiM does not use this file. You can also try /usr/local/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc or ~/.xinitrc for defining environment variables. Does that maybe do the trick?
