Re: GhostBSD theme for xfce

Hi Hutch979, while I do not know too much about the Xfce themes, I have another suggestion for you. The current release of GhostBSD is build upon FreeBSD 10.3 which was released in April, I think. FreeBSD releases go through a series of alphas, betas and release candidates before they are published....

Some pages missing/inaccessible

While I'm not sure if the migration is complete, yet, I just wanted to bring this to your attention. Here's a list of URLs that are linked from the GhostBSD website but either lead nowhere or have wrong permissions: http://www.ghostbsd.org/newsletter/subscriptions Access denied http://www.ghostbsd.o...

Re: Migration to ConsoleKit2?

As you certainly know we are a very small team, thus we are realistically limited in what we can do: To adopt a new component or generally speaking adopt a component not provided upstream from FreeBSD we need to improve our infrastructure and setup our own repo. You're right, of course. First I tho...

Re: Installation report (X11/ZFS problems inside)

Yes, there are limitations into the installer: FreeBSD provide MBR support for ZFS install, but there (i386) FreeBSD create two pools, zroot and bootpol, (the reason is unknown to me), and after that bootpool is not imported upon first boot, so it is bugged upstream anyway. I'm not sure if that's n...

Migration to ConsoleKit2?

Everybody who advocates *BSD to Linux people now and then knows some of the typical negative responses. One that at least I have heard frequently from people who were open towards alternatives in general is that with BSD there's simply too much old cruft around to feel confortable with it. The probl...

Re: Shutdown option missing after logging out and back in [SOLVED]

Thanks for your help! For the record: Upgrading to 11.0 did not help. But the post that ASX linked to solved the problem. Logging back in after logging out still takes quite some time before the desktop is ready. But as far as I can tell, all users can now reliably halt the machine. I've also confir...

Re: Shutdown option missing after logging out and back in [SOLVED]

Ok, I've rebuilt each and every installed program from current ports (except for the GhostBSD specific ones). It didn't make any difference - the problem still persisted. Then I got the source for FreeBSD 10-STABLE, built and installed that. Unfortunately that also didn't solve the problem. I'm curr...

Re: Taking care of the wiki

Hi again! Now that I have GhostBSD as my daily driver on my main machine, I wanted to resume cleanup duty on the wiki once the shutdown problem (http://forums.ghostbsd.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=529) is solved. However I cannot log in and it seems that my user is gone. ASX: You mentioned migration of ...

Re: Shutdown option missing after logging out and back in [SOLVED]

Hi ASX, at least I'm not the only one then! And it also looks like it's not laptop related. I've used the update station right after the installation and thus have a current 10.3 system. I'm currently rebuilding all packages against bleeding edge ports (I basically portmaster -af the system ex...

Re: Installation report (X11/ZFS problems inside)

Hi, optimus support is not there, and this is going to be difficult for us, because we don't have optimus featured hardware. I'm not sure if this is worth too much effort and time as probably not too many people are affected. Intel graphics seems to work fine and people who absolutely need the powe...
