Re: GhostBSD on ARM

Hi Prince, sorry for the late answer. I was on vacation and now have quite a few things waiting for me (+ fairly little time). To be honest, I thought about supporting ARM, too, and I'd really like to see this some time in the future. However I have not checked back with the others, yet, so I can on...

Re: Intrusive behavior of the automounting feature [SOLVED]

the automounter in the current form is definitely intrusive, I have disabled it log ago, by turning off "hald" in rc.conf: hald_enable="NO" fact is that we were already aware of that, in fact we disabled hald when performing the installation from live media, and in our bug tracker there is an "issu...

Intrusive behavior of the automounting feature [SOLVED]

My system was installed as GhostBSD 10.3 MATE and I upgraded it to 11.0-RELEASE doing a source upgrade. All packages were rebuilt from ports using the latest versions of course. MATE hasn't been touched for a while in FreeBSD, so I guess that this information is not that important but I wanted to gi...

Re: Install on dell optiplex 755 blank screen

... the command Xorg -configure => do something and then blank screen the screen stay on but everything is brozen CTRL +F1 .... That is very unfortunate... I really wonder what's happening here. If it weren't for TrueOS being able to start X11 without freezing the system, I'd be tempted to guess th...

Re: Install on dell optiplex 755 blank screen

You can always try to let X11 autoconfigure itself. I also needed to do this as GhostBSD wouldn't boot into graphical mode for me. At the command line type: Xorg -configure This will try to autoconfigure X11 and put the resulting config into a file that you can then copy over /etc/X11/xorg.conf . If...

Re: Install on dell optiplex 755 blank screen

In general non-Lenovo laptops are still a bit of an adventure with FreeBSD... If the system really freezes completely it might be useful to get more information. You said that TrueOS does boot? Could you perhaps save the dmesg to a file and post it here as well?

Re: GhostBSD theme for xfce

I have a centrino wireless N 2230, which as it turns out is supported on the iwn4 (for freebsd 11.0 that is, not sure re 10.3), I just need to enable that in the kernel conf. Is that right? I would guess that you don't have to since customizing the kernel is getting a less and less frequent thing t...

Re: Installation report (X11/ZFS problems inside)

I changed my mind later, after reading carefully several man/docs pages), thinking at what happen when a single bit get corrupted: the related disk is put "offline" and the pool must rely on the remaining disks; that's fine for a mirrored system, but on single disk it means no zpool at all. First: ...

Re: Migration to ConsoleKit2?

Anyway, GhostBSD is developed nearly exclusively from Eric, I joined him approx two years ago, after one of his post claiming something like "GhostBSD is one man job ...". At the time I was very newbie about *BSD, but not newbie in the unix/linux world, having some past experience, I took that as a...
