I would not say that the current ISOs /usr is compressed to the limits, in fact actually it is a tradeoff between compression and performance (both creating the compressed folder, and expanding it later for live sessions). /usr is (was?) compressed using zip compression, I remember that me and convb...

kraileth, the ISOs already contains a compressed "/usr" filesystem, that's why they don't compress further.

use a SATA disk controller, IDE will not work.
