Telegram will only launch once after fresh install
After a fresh install of the xfce edition, I can only run telegram once. First time it launches correctly, asks for my mobile number and sends me a code. After typing the code, I can see all my channels (including the GhostBSD one). However, if I quit (logoff, restart of my laptop) and restart the a...

Re: Cannot set my default sound card right
Ok, here is what I did to get this problem solved : - set default soundcard to /dev/dsp1 via /etc/sysctl.conf (see previous post) - Once that is done, I rebooted and got the boot sound of GhostBSD for the first time ... - FF still didn't have sound though (I opened YouTube to check it). However, whi...

Re: Cannot set my default sound card right
Neville, I indeed figured that out in the meantime (my bad). Loader.conf is for sysctl variables that you can change ONLY at boot time. For those you can change after boot (with the sysctl command), one should use systcl.conf ... I'm starting to getting to know how FreeBSD works ... quite logical in...

[Solved] Cannot set my default sound card right
Here is the output of cat /dev/sndstat : pcm0: <Conexant CX20585 (Left Analog)> (play/rec) default pcm1: <Conexant CX20585 (Analog)> (play/rec) No devices installed from userspace. And the snippet from dmesg related to sound : hdacc0: <Conexant CX20585 HDA CODEC> at cad 0 on hdac0 hdaa0: <Conexant C...

Re: Fresh Install GhostBSD 18.12 fails to start X due to drm problem
I deleted the drm-next-kmod package, but I had to install xf86-video-ati-legacy (as in the bug report) in stead of xf86-video-ati (got removed automatically by pkg by installing the legacy driver). I also made en explicit /usr/local/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ati.conf file to be sure the driver was selecte...

Re: Fresh Install GhostBSD 18.12 fails to start X due to drm problem
The laptop is a toshiba C650D-11J from 2010 with a single core AMD V120 processor and a separate HD4250 graphics card (shared memory).
So no dual graphics.

Re: Fresh Install GhostBSD 18.12 fails to start X due to drm problem
NevilleGoddard, reading through the bugzilla bug, I indeed have the impression I'm in the same situation. What is ironic about all this, is that I choose GhostBSD to install (instead of FreeBSD) on this laptop so that I did not need to tweak too much anymore. Wireless drivers, network configuration,...

Re: GhostBSD and Trident
@EricBSD : Lumina, at least in the beginning, was also avalaible for Linux. I remember trying it out on my Arch Linux machine. Maybe that has changed recently. I remember the build was supposed to be OS agnostic. @rowo : this brings me to the point that GhostBSD 18.12 only has mate as an official de...

Re: Fresh Install GhostBSD 18.12 fails to start X due to drm problem
drm-next- kmod is installed
loading the amdgpu module gives the following error :
module_register : cannot register drmn from drm.ko; already loaded from drm2.ko
...
KLD amdgpu.ko: depends on drmn - not available or version mismatch
linker_loader_file: /boot/modules/amdgpu.ko - unsupported file type

Re: GhostBSD and Trident
Ericbsd,
Indeed, that's what I yesterday found out in a web page on the TrueOS side.
Thanks for the clarification.
I prefer GhostBSD to Trident but that is a matter of taste
