Re: GhostBSD 19.09 is now available

OK, must be some weird glitch. Also, my USB ethernet adapter doesn't work under GhostBSD anymore, this is what it looks like under freebsd12stable, and an old trueOS12current; ugen0.2: <ASIX Elec. Corp. product 0x7720> at usbus0 axe0 on uhub3 axe0: <0> on usbus0 miibus1: <MII bus> on axe0 ukphy0: <G...

Re: GhostBSD 19.09 is now available

So, I have this nasty Intel based Toshiba laptop from 2015, UEFI only; with the community release, it can run the inteldrm driver just fine. But the regular GhostBSD release can't start the inteldrm? So what is the difference between these community & regular releases (other than the default desktop)?

Re: GhostBSD and Trident

As I understand it, Lumina's reason to exist, is that it is fully BSD licensed, no GPL.

Re: GhostBSD and Trident

TrueOS is supposed to be a base for many distros, no?

I guess Trident is the new project name for TrueOS+LuminaDesktop,
probably done mostly for the benefit of TrueNAS ?

Re: GhostBSD 18.12 Wired Connection Fails

you might have an issue on your network with DHCP clients not getting any/correct values for the DNS settings. A lot of OS's & apps use their own DNS settings these days, and ignore local settings... Or you forgot about DNS when you were setting the network IP address & gateway manually? I can't tel...

Re: GhostBSD 18.12 Wired Connection Fails

it means you need to setup your DNS;
search the web for info about
/etc/resolv.conf

Re: GhostBSD with KDE Plasma

I do believe KDE Plasma just landed in FreeBSD 13.current, probably because of Kris Moore & TrueOS.
But TrueOS is also switching from the openZFS to the ZOL project,
so the next version of GhostBSD will require some intense testing soon :-)

Re: GhostBSD 18.12 Wired Connection Fails

if this is on a laptop, it might be "easy" to swap out the little wifi card with an intel one? For the wired connection: does ifconfig show what IP address you get? Then you need to ping the IP address of your router/gateway, and see if that works. The last thing to check is DNS, see if it can resol...
