Since I haven't gotten a reply to my no-X post, I decided to consider installing TrueOS instead. But it will install only on a UEFI drive, and mine is a BIOS. Does GhostBSD also require UEFI?

The install seems to proceed OK, with the exception of a bunch of files and folders not found. It starts slim and startxfce4. And then it presented a login prompt on the terminal screen.
