You can try creating an xorg.conf file and putting in the desired resolution.

Hi. I made the error message disappear by going to keyboard preference settings then clicking the layouts tab and click add and added a new keyboard with my country language and layout. i then clicked add. I then chose this new keyboard over the old keyboard. Then no more error message. Hope it work...

Hi, joachin.
Does anything change at all when you try resetting the shortcuts?
I successfully made a shortcut for the calculator by using the keys ctrl+alt+c to bring up the calculator.
Does this work for you?
Also what keys exactly are you trying to activate?
