Re: Failed 11.1 install (with pc-install.log)

erisbsd, thanks for the reply I didn't try another distro on it, but I can't get it to show up when plugged into a card reader on my linux box. I think it's dead. I went ahead and purchased another SD card and got it to install. I had had 10.5 on that card in the past, so I know it works. I haven't ...

Failed 11.1 install (with pc-install.log)

Hi everyone, Tried installing 11.1 and finally got it to install, but then it wouldn't boot up. Tried a re-install and could NEVER get it to go. I tried formatting the drive (sd card) but nothing will recognise it. I'm thinking the SD card went bad. What is everyone else's thoughts? pc-install.log: ...

Re: Sound issues 10.3

Thanks ASX. When you say different sound apps, do you mean to try using 'alsa' instead of 'pulse audio'? They're both installed, but I wouldn't know how to get alsa to work. Maybe that's not what you're saying though. I played an music mp3 and it had the same issues. I could adjust the volume in 'So...

Sound issues 10.3

Looks like I'm not the only one having an issue with sound. NO sound in firefox on either youtube, or facebook videos. I can make the sound work in Opera on youtube, but nothing on facebook. I'll assume this has something to do with the version only being 12.16, and Opera is now up to 37. I can play...

Re: nVidia drivers on 10.3

SWEET SUCCESS!!!! :D 8-) OK, not sure 'WHY' it worked this time, and not the times before, but the only differences this time was a different set of drivers. (i assume) Before I was trying to use the 340.96, this time the 340-340.93 as was suggested by ASX. The other thing I did that I didn't do las...

Re: nVidia drivers on 10.3

OK, re-installed, then installed nvidia driver packages again. I found something that didn't make sense. The instructions posted here says to do this 'echo 'nvidia_load="YES"' >> /boot/loader.conf', but what the terminal instructions say is to put it in /etc/rc.conf. Are the instructions p...

Re: nVidia drivers on 10.3

Hmmmm, I logged in as 'root' typed xdrivers and hit enter. It gave me a screen that gave me the option of choosing either 1 'keyboard', or 2 'nvidia' I chose nvidia, rebooted, and now I get a light gray screen with a frown face that says 'Oh no! Something has gone wrong. A problem has occurred and t...

Thanks ASX.

OK, here is the corresponding contents of my xorg.conf file. Looks just like yours. I'm confused now! :?

Re: nVidia drivers on 10.3

Thanks ASX. Here is the output of 'kldstat'. Sorry for the cutoff. It's hard to hold the phone still and capture it all. The last line says 'linux64.ko'. It appears the nvidia module is loading though.
