Re: screensize

This was a tough question? Or has support on here dried up?

screensize

For some reason, on my machine, the selection of the display size doesn't stick through a reboot - it's a nuisance to have to reset that resolution setting each time I start up. This is in VirtualBox, with a resolution set to 1280x1024 which on restart sets itself to 800x600. Why would this be?

Re: VirtualBox Guest Additions

Thanks for that info, kraileth. Pity that this kind of thing is not better described and updated regularly in the docs. Getting GhostBSD running in a virtual machine is just too much hassle for me I'm afraid, I have better things to do. Surprising that these things do not have more focus, as I would...

Could you please put the full command line that you are using?
Sure:

Code: Select all

# mount_smbfs -I 192.168.56.1 //user@RASPBERRY/sharing /mnt/shares
plus the obvious variations like changing the case of the netbios name, leaving out the username, missing out or providing the password on demand...

Re: VirtualBox Guest Additions

Today the same problem. I can ping both the guest (G-BSD) from the Windows machine and windows from the Guest system. The response to the mount_smb command is "unable to open connection: syserror = operation timed out"

Re: VirtualBox Guest Additions

Well I installed the virtualbox-ose-additions port - which incidentally included a LOT of extra download including the full kernel I cannot make sense of what you wrote. There is no way a new kernel can be installed as part of a package install or a port install. Difficult to be brief and clear. Wh...

Re: VirtualBox Guest Additions

Well I installed the virtualbox-ose-additions port - which incidentally included a LOT of extra download including the full kernel - which apparently lead to a more stable system than installing the package did. BUT still no joy in getting the share working with the Windows host - has anyone succeed...

VirtualBox Guest Additions

Is the older procedure for installing Guest Additions still relevant? This involves installing the virtualbox-ose-additions package/port, then adding a couple of lines to /etc/rc.conf vboxguest_enable="YES" vboxservice_enable="YES" I ask because with this new install of GhostBSD 10.3 from a fresh .i...

Re: update - confused?

So why doesn't freebsd-update tell me this?
