I've added 16G for a total 24G of memory, which is recognized by the system. It still locks up. When this happens, the fan kicks into max speed and the laptop gets quite warm. I was not aware of the RAM requirement - I'll add some more This could be the culprit, IIRC the memory assigned to graphics is taken away from the system, so I might be running too lean on RAM.

The hard drive is at 4% capacity (9.6G used, 211G avail)
