Updates taking HOURS

Fresh install. First 561 updates. It's been at it since 9:30am ET. So, coming up on 5 hours here soon. Mate seems to be in a mostly crashed state. The menu disappeared hours ago and has never returned. The 4 icons on the desktop have been bouncing up and down every few seconds since then. All 4 of t...

Re: Prevent sleep during updates?

Thanks for the reply. I think you're right that it was probably the screen saver crashing. I didn't even think of the screen saver vs the power management settings. Curiously, the screen saver control panel has a button to open the power management settings but, this appears to be only one way. I do...

Prevent sleep during updates?

Is there any way to prevent the screen from sleeping (i.e. blanking) and locking while the huge first round of updates are running? I came back to my computer to check it's progress and the screen was black (even though I had set it to never sleep), after moving the mouse the screen was just a gradi...

Where would I find information about how to do that? Also, is it not possible for GhostBSD to incorporate what Ubuntu has developed for this? Or, is this due to BSD's networking software being different from Linux?

Re: Automount is mounting things read only

You're right, it should be but, I just tested it again. I plug in a FAT32 USB keychain drive and all the files have little locks next to them. There's no reason that I shouldn't have permission to write to this drive. Why is Automount mounting it in a way that my user doesn't have permission to writ...

Connect to WiFi that uses Captive Portal

How do you connect GhostBSD to WiFi that uses a Captive Portal? I'm searching and searching for a solution and I can't find one. I'm used to Ubuntu where I can click on the Network Manager and choose "Other Network", enter the name of the unadvertised Network, then open Firefox, try to con...

Re: Automount is mounting things read only

No-one out there has any ideas about this for me? I just want to be able to plug in a FAT32 USB keychain drive and have it Automount read/write instead of read only. Help me GhostBSD gurus, you're my only hope.

Automount is mounting things read only

How can I get automount to mount my drives read/write and not read only?
