Re: Pcbsd

Hi Scott... in short,
PCBSD -> TrueOs -> Project Trident.
Then Trident switched to Void Linux from FreeBSD.
GhostBSD was/is independent of the above progression.

Spectre (security vulnerability) fix

Hi, As the Spectre (security vulnerability) is going to be an ongoing issue generally for many PCs would you consider applying the partial fix in sysctl as standard? Currently I prevent the disable of IBRS (ie make it permanently active) by creating in /etc/sysctl.d/ a conf file containing: # Set th...

Re: update error message - OS related mismatch

Thanks Eric,
Both MATE and XFCE install properly from your 24th July build. :-)
So I assume the issue lies in the incremental pkg update process...

Re: update error message - OS related mismatch

Hi Eric, Unfortunately, doing pkg upgrade -f causes the GhostBSD login to keep recycling - the desktop doesn't fire up. I checked with a new HDD using fresh install of 20.04 (last release) and then forcing upgrade of this - with same result. There's something iffy about the current GhostBSD build fo...

Re: Moving wallpapers.

Hi, I decided to use a simple script to rotate the wallpapers (backgound). Placed referenced images in "Picture" folder along with the script.xml In MATE > Appearance > Backgounds "add" to point to the xml file (swap to 'all file types' to see xml in the dialogue). the xml file routine (edit in plum...

Latest updates hide device names

Hi, trying not to be pedantic... Following updates of 23rd June, the Applications > Sound & Video > Sound Preferences dialogue no longer shows the sound hardware, leaving the tags off /dev/dsp lists. I.e. I don't see labels for 'front analogue', 'rear analogue', 'HDMI', 'USB'... I this because the u...
