A SonicDE ISO?

I thought one time, I saw a .ISO with SonicDE, but I can not find it now. I have no idea how to enable/connect the net in XFCE.

Edward: I've run both XFCE and MATE on Ghost, and the network manager is the same on both. Frankly I found it to be a bit fiddly. There's a network icon on the toolbar; right click on it, and then click on start networking. Then look for your pertinent SSID. If the system won't let you do that, click on restart networking and try again. I also had to close the network dialog box and reopen it and then try to find my SSID again. But the icon should be there in XFCE.

Can I install SonicDE onto the Mate Ed, then uninstall Mate, so I wull have no issues?

You may already be aware of these, I don't know. But if Sonic uses the same network manager package as MATE and XFCE, it may not help.

Internet is working on Mate, just want something I can go to the new DE without issue & SonicDE might be a easy transition. Long as I will have no issues with Sonic if Mate is still on also, if Mate was QT it would be better. Also, my mouse is moving a bit fast.

Looks like, I will be fine. Just install SonicDE instead. 🙂 I thought a GTK+ DE would fight with a QT one.

SonicDE is like totally vaporware, man. You don’t download it, you just believe in it really, really hard.

If you find an ISO, dude, don’t install it. Frame that shit. It’s probably the rarest file in computing.

Installing almost any DE on top of another has been problematic for decades.

It creates a FrankenUnix even if you manage to resolve dependency issues. Often one or more of environments has odd hard to debug issues.

In the early days of Linux/Unix heyday there were no DEs only simpler window managers without any dbus, network/sound daemon integration. Back then one could switch window managers usually without issues.

me12345 That vid. of some one puttung KDE on Mate looked like he had no issues. I couldn't find what file he got. I would love SonicDE instead, they will not go Wayland, but no idea what file to download... I wish Mate would go QT.

You’ve got MATE working, and now you’re trying to find some mystery file for SonicDE that nobody seems to have, while worrying about GTK and Qt like they’re gonna get into a fistfight.

And you don’t need MATE to “go Qt.” GTK and Qt can coexist perfectly fine. Just use the desktop you actually want, preferably one that is real, supported, and documented.

Don’t turn a working FreeBSD installation into a FrankenDesktop just because you saw a YouTube video and got curious, man. 😂

I like having two to choose from, since two people use my computer. I like my LXDE for the sheer blinding speed and simplicity. The other user likes Xfce for how pretty and easy it is. So
