..this might be in the wrong place but..
I am trying to install ghostBSD on a "brand-new" (refurbished) Dell laptop. A Latitude 5400. I literally bought it yesterday. Is it relevant where I bought it? I have, or am supposed to have, ghostBSD on a usb-key, with ventoy. (I created the boot-disk, a few months back) Following the usual procedure, I insert it, turn on the computer, and hit F12 repeatedly. I get to the usual (as far as I can tell) booting menue, where one of the options is the usb disk. So far, so good, I have only one plugged-in, so that must be it. "UEFI: USB DISK 2.0 PMAP, Partition 2".
..I select it, and..
"Operating System Loader failed signature verification. WARNING: The file may have been tampered with!"
Tracking this down wasn't so hard, the displayed screen is exactly as shown here: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-ca/000126406/dell-encryption-dell-data-protection-encryption-protected-devices-fail-to-boot-with-operating-system-loader-failed-signature-verification
Unfortunately, it claims that "A Windows recovery disk or installation media that matches the major operating system level that is installed on the device (Windows 8.1, Windows 10 build 10240, or Windows 10 build 10586) is required."
..I have no windows recovery disk, and have no intention of getting one. What it sounds like to me is that this is a computer that "the powers that be", whether that is DELL or Microsoft, have expressly configured to be hostile to groups like BSD. If this is the case, I'm returning the computer, and shopping instead for something that -will- accept it. Seeing as I bought this computer expressly to put bsd on it.
