Edward1978 So, if you set up a live .iso how you want, a app to save a install script of the settings you want, accept passwords would be nice.
vimanuelt That should be possible. pc-sysinstall already supports scripted installations and post-install hooks (runScript= and runCommand=). The missing piece is a tool that captures the changes made in a customized live session and generates the corresponding pc-sysinstall configuration or post-install script. In other words, the installer backend already has the execution mechanism; what would need to be developed is the configuration capture and script generation.
Edward1978 vimanuelt No rush, get the new DE at release stage first. Since I've heard about NixOS's putting all software/hardware settings in 2 files, 1 for hard,1 for soft. I thought this is a good idea. I mean, that is not the exact same thing.
vimanuelt Edward1978 It's an interesting idea. If there's enough community interest and support, I'd be happy to work on it. Donations help make projects like this possible. If there isn't enough interest, I'll focus on other projects. Location: https://github.com/xcrsz/ghostremaster Donation: https://github.com/sponsors/xcrsz
Edward1978 vimanuelt I will share the donation link, be cool if it works out. Maybe make a sticky about the idea in the Dev. forum? Post on the FreeBSD forum?
