ghostbsd says txt files and some directoris named in linux are invalid encoding

How do I get this to be correct, the files and dir are working fine in linux but,
ghostbsd xfce says names are invalid encoding?

And if I correct the names in Ghostbsd, then Linux says invalid encoding?

Huh?
You need to provide a lot more details if you expect any help. Do you go to the doctor and say I'm broken, fix me and provide no symptoms ? Details are required.

Anyway....

What physical devices ? Are you using different partitions ? One Linux and one GhostBSD ? Are the partitions are same drive ? Please provide the mount details for each OS ../etc/fstab .

Are you using a USB stick that works on two separate computers ? If so what OS/filesystem was used to create the contents of the USB stick and provide details of the mount for each OS.

Linux has a hd, ghost has one hd they are not on the same hd
and the file is on its own hd, its txt file so nothing fancy

It could be that the file systems aren't compatible. Like you, I have two HDDs, one with GhostBSD and one with a favorite Linux distro. GhostBSD uses ZFS while my Linux OS uses EXT4 format.

On Linux I can't open the other HDD to grab files because it doesn't read ZFS. But I can view, read, copy, etc all my Linux files when I'm using GhostBSD.

I had better luck moving files by copying and pasting them to a USB stick (formatted FAT32) than exchanging them between HDDs.

hm that partition is fat32 so hm?
but I don't spend time on it I just boot in to my CachyOS and use make files from there not using the ghost
but I wonder why this is.
