I'm a non-technical user so I can't address builds and handheld stuff, clang+llvm. But a reply to your post seems overdue, and like you, I'm a GhostBSD "fanboy."
It is faster, leaner, and more uncluttered than Linux for sure! None of the corporate stuff shoved on users, no systemd (if that matters to you), Xlibre because X-11 has worked reliably for decades and now it's being maintained instead of deliberately killed to force Wayland on users.
I came over from Linux because GhostBSD is "ethically" unmarred by the strange "woke" madness that seems to be so much a part of Linux and FOSS in general.
@ericbsd can tell you how to contribute and what the project needs. The best I can do is send a little money and brag about GhostBSD awesomeness on my blog.
