Should be working out of the box, open up your mixer on your Xfce or Mate. Sometimes it is set to mute, or if you want to see if your hardware is beinf detected type in terminal:
'cat /dev/sndstat'
You should be seeing your sound card being listed, then you open your mixer an make sure the proper sound card is highlighted and registering.
